The Secular Party of Australia is running senate candidates in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory in the 2016 Federal Election. Changes to the senate ballot paper make it easier for voters to allocate preferences to parties or individual candidates of their choice, and as such we are not making preference deals with other parties this election.
On the senate ballot paper, voters can number 6 parties above the line (be sure to look for Secular Party first), or 12 or more senate candidates below the line. While we aren’t allocating preferences at a party level, we do trust that voters will consider lower house candidates from parties we have formed alliances with in the past and which have similar secular or scientific policies to our own. Should these parties have lower house or senate representatives available in your electorate, please consider voting for them in the House of Representatives and making them your preference after the Secular Party on the senate ballot.
These parties include, in no particular order:
- Australian Sex Party
- Science Party
- Australian Progressives
- Australian Equality Party
- Arts Party
- Pirate Party
- Drug Law Reform
- Voluntary Euthanasia Party
- Marriage Equality
- Sustainable Australia
- Renewable Energy Party
- Animal Justice Party
